One of the most visible areas of the arts ministry at Grace is the stage work provided by Gracework's dramatists. Grace Players devotes talent, time and energy towards a wide range of acting venues, from small vignettes during Sunday morning services to big productions.
Involvement
Drama at Grace is a time to stop and reflect on life and issues of the heart. It's an opportunity to challenge the viewer with life’s humorous, difficult, and confusing circumstances. A chance to illustrate through drama the truths of the gospel.
Are you interested in trying acting on a stage? Here at Grace, we'd like to invite you to do so and provide some food for thought in the meantime.
Our use of drama is an opportunity to offer a portion of the abilities God has given us back to Him as an artistic offering that can be used for His purpose. Drama sketches are used in worship services and outreach events with the same primary goal; to communicate Christ in a culturally relevant way.
In worship services, the drama is only one piece of a service designed to lead a person to worship Christ. We strive to produce excellent drama that points to Christ. If the drama produced only draws attention to itself, it failed. If it leads a person to worship Christ, it was excellent.
If a person is interested in acting in a sketch or play they need to join Grace Players at the weekly meetings to participate in exercises with other members. This is an informal gathering to try script work and exercises. This process is designed to help an individual discern if acting is more than their desire, but their gift . When a person is chosen to be involved in acting, they will be placed on a rotating schedule of actors to participate in worship.
